With the rise of Adult Swim, I guess this would have to be divided into two categories: aimed at kids, not aimed at kids. Of the first variety, I have to go back to Rocky and Bullwinkle, although there is certainly some stuff in there for adults as well. And the supporting cast was quite spectacular: Mister Peabody, Dudley Do-Right, Fractured Fairy Tales.
As for a cartoon aimed at adults, I must choose Moral Orel. I would imagine it offends about 99% of the people who watch it. It makes South Park look like Strawberry Shortcake. I consider these to be very positive things.
For Kids:
Yogi Bear Tom & Jerry ("Tah Mas!" era) Spiderman & His Amazing Friends Batman: The Animated Series Grape Ape Superchicken Tom Slick George Of The Jungle
Not For Kids:
Simpsons South Park Cartoon Planet (R.I.P.) Squidbillies Aqua Teen Hunger Force Home Movies Metalocapyse Sealab 2021 Frisky Dingo
From my youth: Tom & Jerry; Rough & Ready; Casper; Woody Woodpecker; Spider-man; Scooby-Doo; The Flintstones; Groovie Goulies; Rocky and Bullwinkle; Mr Magoo; Looney Tunes/Bugs; Under Dog
As an Adult: All of the above plus Aqua Teen Hunger Force; Many Japanese animations ranging from the 70's to current- Devilman; Gatchaman; Getter Robo; MazingerZ; Ninja Scroll; Record of Lodoss War; Golgo-13
