It was a great race with aired about 10pm on ESPN Classic back here in the states. But following her win I kind of feel bad for her i guess a FEW fans have said (joking or other wise) that the league rigged the event so she could win. But I was there and I remember watching that last lap and think "Oh my gosh where did she come from?"
I guess some people can't seem to grasp that a woman REALLY won a Major Open Wheel Race. hehe
With Graham Rahal's win in St. Pete and now Danica May is shaping up nicely.
this is the press conference of her talking: http://www.indy500.com/video/index.php?watch=962
She has gotten so much publicity and now she has finally won a race. yay (sarcasm). No offense to you kathyrnbelt, but i think its rediculous a loser gets so much publicity just because the driver is one of the only female drivers. If she was any good and got publicity, then it would be a different story, but she gets coverage if she comes close to last. I get sick of hearing stories about this woman when she has not accomplished much at all in terms of actual winning of points. Dont get me wrong, I have no objection to women in the sport, i think its cool infact. Im glad they finally have something to talk about now that she won.
True her past publicity may have been undeserved but at least now she is starting to prove that is worth talking about. That makes me feel a little better. I mean I am not a Danica fan but as a woman it's nice to see a woman in Victory circle - and yes she did cry and to quote her "That was so girlie of me". (I would have cried too just for the record)
My excitement is based purely on the fact she finally did it. But now I am going to have to find something else to make fun of her for.
