I love all of the crazy creatures that run around our yard, but the squirrels are my favorite by far. I recently took a bag of birdseed out and accidentally left it on the porch only to come out a few hours later to find that the squirrels had gone to town. There was birdseed all over the porch, and a couple of guilty squirrels who looked at me without remorse and then took off. I love it how the hiss at you like you're on their turf and then take off. Anyone else have any cool wild creatures in their backyard?
Ever seen a black squirrel? I used to live in Alexandria and they were all over, never seen a black one before till I moved there.....and I haven't seen one since I moved back to Indy either.

I've been to Camp Chesterfield a couple of times ("spiritualist community", spooky place, check it out) and they have black squirrels there. It's near Alexandria.
Squirrels that come to my back porch door and chitter at me if I don't bring out squirrel corn fast enough! And a pileated woodpecker a few times - that birg was MONSTER sized!
I've had raccoons, possums, rabbits, squirrels and all variety of wildlife folk outside of my house.
Back when we had our big (well, medium sized) outside dogs, they'd often get in a row with a possum or a raccoon, of course usually in the middle of the night. Once a raccoon got mixed up with them at 2 am and I didn't know what to do about breaking them up. The raccoon finally got away and tried to climb one of my trees, and my dumb dog knocked the thing down and kept fighting with it. Finally it escaped, and there were no permanent effects.
Also, once they got mixed up with a possum in early fall, which perched itself on my fence and wouldn't leave...until I got the hose out.
My wife feeds the squirrels, geese, ducks, raccoons, birds, and other wildlife in the backyard. I've never heard a squirrel hiss but they do make a chittering sound, usually after climbing a tree. They like to chitter at my dog when he chases then off our deck.
well we have lots of squirrels around my area and when i drive home i usually see deer in the fenced in area its nice to see deer, although most of them look small and probably incest, they need more room.
