Ok, is it just me, or are others annoyed by people talking on cell phones while seated at a restaurant? I'm not talking about fast food, I mean a sit-down-order-from-a-menu establishment. I've seen people continue to talk while they point out their selections to the waitstaff! At least step away from the dining room if you have to take a call.

I am a terrible violator of this social atrocity!

LOL ... the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem.

I hate this! Step outside if you're gonna talk on and on! Now, I've accepted emergency calls while ordering, but it couldn't be helped. Just bad timing. But I don't sit there and speak loudly into a phone so that everyone around me can hear my conversation. Worst ones? Teens and early 20's. EEK!

Unless they're really talking loudly it doesn't bother me, but movie theater cell phone usage does bug me a bit.

One thing that does bug me is people using phones in public restrooms. There are things going on in there that the outside world just doesn't have any business hearing. Nothing like hearing a guy grunting while he's talking on the phone with his wife, or catching the gruntings and other offensive sounds from neighboring stalls.

This is totally one of my pet peeves. This is horrible but when I am waiting tables and someone is on there cell phone I generally don't acknowledge the table until they hang up! Not that I garnish any big tips from being a B*tch but Hey People, lets have some a little dining courtesy!

Oh and I have had people on their phones point at different items on the menu to order food just so they could continue their conversations.

I agree Allison. I actually stopped at a liquor store last week that had a big sign posted that read that they would not sell any products to customers while they are talking on cell phones. I loved it. Put down the phone and turn off the tv. Enjoy the people around you and give them your courtesy and attention.

When I was a server, I did the exact same thing!! I have too much respect for myself and in turn treat my tables with the same amount of respect they show me.

No matter what, I still did all of the basics for all of my tables, because that was my job. But I am going to show you the same amount of courtesy as you show me while I'm doing it.

And as for the movie thing, I HATE it when someone sitting in front of you texts throughout the movie... sometimes you sit just right so that the light shines directly into your face every time they open up their phone... not fun

It's obnoxious! When did it become impossible for so many people to not be talking constantly? I really don't understand how so many people can't even go to the grocery or Target and just shop without needing to talk to someone the whole time. I love that kind of alone time, doing what I want, not blathering on about nonsense and subjecting everyone around me to my conversations.
