The Top 10 Live is a collaborative effort between Indy.com and Indianapolismusic.net
1. Spoon w/ Prizzy Prizzy Please
6:30 p.m. April 19, The Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., SOLD OUT, (317) 259-7029.
For the second time in a row, a sold-out show at the Vogue tops this list. This time Spoon takes the honors. The Austin, Texas, group has won fans with its sparse but instantly catchy pop melodies. The group cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard album chart with its 2007 release, "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga." Bloomington's Prizzy Prizzy Please opens before heading out on its own spring tour. See story on Page 27.
2. The Cool Kids w/ Twilight Sentinels, DJs Indiana Jones & Marcus
8:30 p.m. April 20, The Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., $17, (317) 259-7029.
Hip-hop duo The Cool Kids got its start by distributing its music online, then grew into a buzz act. The duo initially released its tracks through a MySpace page, but has since been signed to a label. The debut record is due in May. In between, the duo has performed at major music festivals and has been a media favorite.
3. Circle City Ska Fest
1 p.m. April 19, The Underground at Harrison Center for the Arts, 1505 N. Delaware St., $10, (317) 396-3886.
If any ska fans in Indy have felt neglected by the live music scene, this event should make up for it. This all-day, all-ages show features 20 acts, including seven Indy-based bands. Among the headliners making the trip to play the show: Shot Baker from Chicago, the Pinstripes from Cincinnati and We Are the Union from Ann Arbor, Mich. Get full details, set times, and samples from selected bands at myspace.com/indyska.
4. Chiodos w/ MXPX, From First To Last, The Color Fred
7 p.m. April 20, Egyptian Room, 502 N. New Jersey St., $20, (317) 615-1500.
Chiodos grew from its DIY roots in suburban Flint, Mich., to become a favorite of the emo/hardcore underground. Now, it's a Top 10 band on the U.S. album charts. Its latest release, "Bone Palace Ballet," debuted at No. 5 and elevated the group to headliner status. They bring a powerful lineup, with pop-punk favorites MXPX (pictured), The Color Fred (a group headed by Taking Back Sunday's Fred Mascherino) and opening act From First to Last.
5. Dick Dickinson's Retirement Show
8 p.m. April 23, The Chatterbox, 435 Massachusetts Ave., (317) 636-0584.
For more than 20 years, Dick Dickinson has been a consistent feature at the Chatterbox. The drummer's Dick Dickinson Jazztet has been performing with the help of numerous guests every Wednesday at the Mass Ave. club. On April 23, the 80-year-old Dickinson hangs up the sticks on his regular gig. Stop by to offer congratulations and welcome the Jesse Wittman Trio as they take over the Wednesday night slot.
6. Michael Bublé
8 p.m. April 18, Conseco Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St., $51.50-81.50, (317) 239-5151 or www.consecofieldhouse.com
Michael Bublé is a throwback to the crooners and jazz singers of the 20th century. His modern interpretation of pop standards has helped him sell more than 11 million albums, including his most recent international No. 1, "Call Me Irresponsible." His success has translated to the concert stage, as his shows on previous legs of this tour have been sellouts.
7. The Blakes, Rooms, America Owns the Moon
9 p.m. April 18, Radio Radio, 1119 E. Prospect. St., $7, (317) 955-0995.
Lean indie pop band The Blakes visits Indy with melodic power in the vein of the Who and the Kinks. They're joined by Indy-based America Owns the Moon and Rooms. AOTM's Elvis Costello-meets-The Replacements sound and Rooms' Television/Talking Heads-inspired rock make for perfect openers.
8. All Four Original Members of Asia
8:30 p.m. April 21, Music Mill, 3720 E. 82nd St., $35, (317) 841-1850.
The show features Geoff Downes, John Wetton, Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, aka the founding members of rock supergroup Asia. So don't expect to see John Payne, Guthrie Govan, Jay Schellen or any of the other 17 musicians who have passed through Asia in the past 25 years. Though the original four were together only for the first two albums, they did create most of the group's hit singles.
9. Vulgar Boatmen
9 p.m. April 19, Spencer's Stadium Tavern, 802 S. West St., $5, (317) 916-8888.
Operating in the shadow of the soon-to-be-completed Lucas Oil Stadium, Spencer's Stadium Tavern serves up a mix of libations and live roots-rock music. Longtime local favorites the Vulgar Boatmen add their name to the roster of acts performing at the Tavern on Saturday. The nationally known act performs two acoustic shows in the Tavern's intimate setting.
10. Mucca Pazza w/ The Leisure Kings & The Playboy Psychonauts
9.p.m. April 17, The Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., $5, (317) 259-7029.
A busy weekend starts Thursday with a visit by "circus punk marching group" Mucca Pazza. Expect to hear everything from Eastern European marches to TV theme songs. They're joined by two of Indy's more unique acts: lounge rock duo The Leisure Kings and sitar8driven trio the Playboy Psychonauts.

$10 - Presale Tix on sale here : http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/33687
Went to the Mucca Pazza show (#10) last night - holy crap that was a lot of fun. They literally are as described - a big, DIY marching band with a love for eastern European sounds and more than a little touch of the theatrical. They'd be a lot of fun at an outdoor show. Go see 'em next time they come through if you're looking for something out of the ordinary.
prizzy opening for spoon? now i have an understanding why nationals skip indy.
