The Royal Tenenbaums - Wes Anderson's best. Solid performances by an all star cast with an amazing script.
Big Fish - Another great script and cast. Tim Burton's masterpiece.
Saving Private Ryan - I'm not a big Tom Hanks fan but this movie transcends him. The story always moves me. The opening and ending scenes grab me by my heart. The idea of the aged Ryan wanting confirmation that his life has justified the sacrifice of his fellow soldiers makes me want to be a better man.
Oh, that's so hard! But I'll try...
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Kind, charming, and often very funny. I really love all of Michel Gondry's movies, even the less perfect ones, because of the sincere and sweet quality they have in the midst of much weirdness.
The Thin Man - Sassy, full of cocktails, starring Myrna Loy and William Powell, and, kind of as a sidenote, a mystery.
Wings of Desire - I adore this movie. It's slow, but really heart-felt and contains the only movie depiction of angels this side of 1960 that I can stand. The horrible, egregious and wholly WRONG re-make City of Angels must be avoided at all costs.
WOW! This is hard......not sure I can do it, but here goes:
Sixteen Candles - yes this is my fav movie of all time, it has violence, sex, drugs and everytime i watch it still makes me laugh to this day + LONG DUCK DONG, c'mon it doesn't get any better than that guy.
Pulp Fiction - how blown away were you in the "Zed scene" when you saw this at the theater? So disturbing.
Se7en - So creepy, and the cast was spot on, and man what an ending! Long live David Fincher, he is our generations' Hitchcock.
I honestly don't know if those other 2 were my favs or not, but these are movies I can watch over and over again and not get tired of them.
Citizen Kane - Predictable but true. I've still never seen another movie like it.
Goodfellas - Scorsese's finest moment, which is saying something.
A Clockwork Orange - Just a fascinating film to watch. "It's funny how the colors of the realy world only seem, like, really real when you viddy them on a screen."
Rear Window- Jimmy Stewart is just a god in my book, the greatest voice ever, plus its Hitchcock at his best.
Seven Samurai- Just simply amazing, the great black and white, yea its a little long but it gets better every time.
number 3 is kind of a toss up- High Fidelity(one of the best soundtracks ever), Dazed and Confused(again great soundtrack, and just good times i have seen this movie more than anything else in my life), Bring it on(I have no idea why i like this movie, but for some reason every time i watch it i just think it is hilarious!)
This is a hard question. I have watched hundreds and hundreds and narrowing down to just three is a task. But in no particular order
Toy Story- this is one of the first movies that i was completly moved by (given i was 10 years old) to this day i still watch it all the time.
Dazed and Confused-I can seriously watch this movie everyday. Plus I agree with Nile, the soundtrack is awesome...
Se7en-One of the only movies i have ever had to watch with the lights on.
Honorable Mention-
Training Day, Halloween remake(by: Rob Zombie, Garden State, Transformers, No Country for Old Men, Top Gun, and about 100 more
