With all this chilly & rainy or cloudy weather, slow-day music is all I've been listening to. My preferred dreary day musicians are Cat Power, Yo La Tengo (the slow songs), Nina Simone, and the new She & Him (it's definitely grown on me).

What about you? What's your ideal soundtrack for a dreary day?

Sam Cooke, Damien Rice, Iron and Wine, Portishead, Fiona Apple...something like that on those cloudy days.

Good choices. My ideal rainy day soundtrack would include Sigur Ros, Air, Claude Debussy, Beethoven, Boards of Canada, Broadcast, Colleen and Max Richter. For some other seasonal musical favorites check out this Songs for Seasons post.

I likes me a little Jack Johnson when it gets soggy outside.

Thanks for the link - mlhphd reminded me of another gray day favorite: Red House Painters or solitary Mark Kozelek. Slow, easy, and appropriately melancholy.

Sigur Ros feels more like a snow storm to me. Or underwater time, a la Steve Zissou.
