Maybe you wait a week to see a new movie. Maybe you put it off till you find people to go with. Maybe you're the one who buys tickets the day before online to know you're headed to opening night.
Where do you like to go to watch movies? Who has the best service, cleanest bathrooms, unique concession items, greatet prices, coziest chairs, cleanest floors?
Prefer a chain? Do you compare times online and head for a theater that's further away to avoid waiting for a show?
It's been a while since I saw a movie in the theater. Thank you very much, Netflix! Where should I head, regardless of home location.
I really like the new AMC Castleton theater. It's pricey, but a nice place to see movies. The digital projection is AWESOME, it's sparkly and shiny and new and clean and the seats are great.
I'm also partial to UA Galaxy 14 on 96th St., and now even UA Circle Centre. The latter especially is kind of cozy.
I'm really eager to get to the Hamilton IMAX 16 up north, because it's really close to my new house!
Keystone Art Cinema is a nice place as well, though I feel kind of funny sitting there in my sweat pants.
EVERYONE at some point should get to Key Cinemas. The atmosphere there is unmatched by any other place in town.
I rarely will pay full price to go see a movie, it really has to be a good one. I live on the east side, and there's a Movies 8 on Washington St where tickets are $2. I know some people hate this place, but I love it. So if you're looking for the coziest seats and cleanest floors, which sounds like you might be, then don't head here. But if you want to experience true audience participation in a movie, this is your place. I love that people yell back at the screen and the characters. So even if your'e not attending the movie with a group of friends, it still feels that way by the end of the movie with all the particpation. I know most people don't feel this way about this theater though. Maybe this makes me weird, or maybe I just really like my community, I don't know. But it does beat a $9 ticket, and most movies make it there within a month or two on the big screen.

And, at least the last time I went which was admittedly a while ago, they also have the chilly dilly at the concession stand. I mean, come on people, a huge dill pickle to go with your movie. I love it!
For silly movies, I don't mind a little audience participation. When my guy and I went to see "28 Days Later" at the Glendale Kerasotes a few years ago, one woman piped up at a particularly revealing image of Cillian Murphy with, "I guess it's true what they say about white men." Priceless.

I grew up on the East side, but I will never go to Movies 8 again in my life. That place is out of control, a little too "East Side" for my taste. I've had stuff thrown at me in that theater, loud talkers, crazy cell phones, saw a fight break out once. The cops have to hang out there every weekend night. It's only a dollar or two, but you get what you pay for.
My favorite theaters are:
Keystone Art- Drinking beer and watching a movie is a great time, and the seats are pretty nice as well.
UA Galaxy: Right near my house and a pretty good place to see movies.
I'm not feeling the new theater in Castleton mall, it's soo crowded on weekends I had to park in freaking Sears parking lot to get into that place. The I had to sit in the front row for 'Clover Field' I almost yakked all over myself. Once it dies down, I might enjoy it more.
My fav is - oh I think its the Kerasote (?) it's just this side of Greenfield on 40.
Key Cinemas has great caramel corn and a nice variety of cold teas.
Personally I am a fan of indie film house at keystone
Key Cinemas is just so "Grindhouse" you can actually hear the projector, and i grew up going to that theater as a kid, 1st movie I seen there was "Animal House" with my mom no less, just really takes me back to my childhood when I walk in there, everything looks exactly the same, I spent MANY weekends in that theater.
Mortal Kombat at the theater that was on the Eastside of Keystone across from Glendale! Everyone was smoking, Smoking, drinking and yelling at the screen! It made a horrible movie one of my all time favorite movie experiences ever.
Keystone art cinema is by far the best on in Indy. not only do they always play amazing movies, but you can sit there and have a drink while watching the movie! yes it might seem a little "yuppie" there but it is worth it!
The new IMAX theater at Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville is awesome. It just opened last week. The chairs are extremely comfortable, and you even get a free drink if you wait in the concession line for more than five minutes. Once the mall officially opens I predict this place will be packed all of the time. It was actually pretty empty on Friday night.

I just went to that one this weekend and saw Leatherheads. It was pretty nice, seats were really comfy and I was digging the digital movie posters that played the trailer in the lobby. Concession stand was pretty cheap compared to most theaters. I didn't get a chance to watch an IMAX flick there yet, but the regular theater was great. It's great that I don't have to drive downtown or to Greenwood to see an IMAX movie though.
IMAX is a whole other experience. It hardly qualifies going to the movies. U23D was phenomenal at the State Museum. I went for free care of indyhub.org. I'd love to see some stuff happen hosted by indy.com!
I love IMAX! I saw U23D there also and was absolutely floored. Of the smaller theatre variety, I really like the new one in Brownsburg that is off of 267. Great stadium seats that are really comfortable and most importantly, at least when I went, it was very clean.
