Last friday I found myself talking about my college years of driving from Broad Ripple down to Herron at 16th and Penn.
FALL CREEK PARKWAY!!! my friend told me i was all about the street back then, and even now, i find it fun to drive, convenient, and even though i got a ticket (years ago), i love it!
did i mention LANE CONTROL?!?!
forget about Binford to the north or anything southwest of Meridian; the stretch from keystone to Meridian is awesome!
so, whats YOUR fave road?
I think Fall Creek is probably my favorite too. Especially at night when there's a lot less traffic and you can just cruise. I recently discovered that when you get to the point where it turns into Binford (around Keystone) you can hang a right and get on Fall Creek North Pkwy. The road is more narrow, but it's still windy (as in...curvy, not a strong breeze) and is quite a nice little drive almost all the way up to Geist.
I agree, the drive up near Geist is nice, and despite the growth up there its still a pretty view.
Fall Creek is fun but I would have to say that I really like Central for some reason. I don't trust a lot of drivers so sometimes Fall Creek can be a bit stressful for me. Central has great houses and there is something just calm and slow paced about it! That's the way I went to check you guys out at the Square. No worries about the loudness, the minions had earplugs!
White River Parkway has always been my favorite.
ones that dont have craters and potholes...i think thats probably none
Okay my favorite drive is from 16th and Pennsylvania St to about Madison Ave and Raymond St! It's a lot of fun because you drive under the old railroad tracks and the city skyline is right there as you drive through the city! It feels a lot like one of those old racing video games tracks!
Fall Creek Pkwy of course and then 16th and Penn to the southside... (ditto what imsnut said)
I also love driving North on Meridian out of the city through all the big fancy houses.
South-siders Represent: Pleasant Run Parkway is pretty great between Bluff and Raymond. Any street that runs by Garfield Park should be a contender for best drive in town.
Pleasant Run between Garfield Park and Ellenberger Park is the story of my childhood in Indianapolis. As I grew up in the city, my family progressively moved from a shotgun shack just north of Garfield Park to a two-story home in Irvington near Ellenberger. So every once in a while I take the drive and try to remember the places I lived and the neighbors who lived there.
