My kids have gotten rid of all their Pacers t-shirts, posters, etc. We had a talk about the teams reputation and I told them I didn't think it reflected well on the city of Indpls. What do you think?
You are exactly right! Good for you and your kids. Who do you suggest as role models in place of the Pacers?
deb5683 that is AWESOME! even a losing team can be good role models. this team stinks, their players stink and their off court antics stink.
now tell your kids to go out and get LeBron jersey's!
I'll give you Tinsley, Daniels and Williams but the Pacers are still a pretty solid bunch of guys. Granger, JO, Diener, Murphy, Dunleavy, Foster and the rest of the team aren't all bad people. I bet if they were leading the league no one would even care, and everyone would be on the bandwagon. It's easy to bail on a team when they are losing though, isn't it?
Remember when Mike Doss (Colts) went and fired shots at a bar in Dayton...yeah, a lot of people don't, the Colts were winning a lot of games then and it wasn't a big deal.
I think, with anything, you have to explain to your kids that some players make bad choices and point your kids to the players that make good choices and help in the community. I bet 5 bucks that every Pacer gives more to charity and helps out the community more than any one of us.
I am dissapointed with the possibility of another season without playoffs and I hope they can keep their acts clean for a while, but I wouldn't exactly sell all my jersey's and stop being a Pacer fan for 3-4 bad eggs in the group. That's not fair to the other 12 players on the roster.
