I recently read an article about a restaurant in Utah where the concept is "one world everybody eats". The concept is pay whatever you want. Some people don't pay anything, some pay once for the whole week of meals, and some decide to sweep the sidewalk or work in the restaurant's garden for thier meal. Would this concept work in this city?
I just saw this post. Pretty neat idea, do you have a link to the article about the restaurant in Utah? I'm not sure if the concept would work in this city or not. I guess it depends on what you mean by "work". If it means the owners of the restaurant bring in lots of money, then probably not. But would they get enough to barely cover expenses but at the same time still help out people in the community, yeah. Post the article link if you still have it. Thanks.
I think I saw the article on MSN or something like that, but here is the website of the kitchen in SLC and you can dowload a business plan to start the same thing in your own city. It's a cool concept, and would be very rewarding.

There's actually a bunch of places like this. Several were featured in April's Budget Travel from Seattle and a bunch of other places. One owner of a similar business reported that many people actually paid more when given the option to choose their price than they would have if the restaurant used a traditional price structure.
Yeah, I don't think it will be a money maker. I just wonder if it would get support, and if you would get a large mix of people that would actually go to it
Well, any non-profit can survive with the right people running it and the right exposure.
