Recently, I got U-Verse from AT & T and compared to by prior experiences with satellite and cable, it is a breath of fresh air.

The installation time was very short. I ordered it on Saturday and got it two days later in the morning!!! When U-Verse got started two years ago, it wasnt unheard of for installation times to be 8-10 hours. However, with the service becoming popular (especially with Big Ten fans, who got tired of waiting for Comcast to add the channel. As of this writing...they and BTN are close to an agreement), ATand T have been hiring more and more installers and the times are now averaging at 1-2 hours.

The channel selection?? You can basically get almost every channel that is out there carried by a cable system. However...some channels are not included.

No NBA TV (except when shown by YES during the mornings), No NHL TV, and also...no CBS College Sports

Yes, Big Ten Network is being offered and you can even get it with the beginning tier..the U100. A Family pack is also offered. However, the best value is the U400, which includes all the premiums and sports channels.

Two channels were announced to be taken off of U-V. Those are the following:

1)AZN. This is a channel that is owned by Comcast. However, through research by little lawn gnomes, they learned that only a few million viewers were watching every month, so they decided to yank the channel. One cool thing about the channel is watching commercials via CCTV-9 and SBTN without English. AZN is a channel devoted to Asian programming.

2)IMF. Channel that features music videos from around the world.

One more sports channel is also marked "Not available":

Comcast Sports New England (formerly known as Fox Sports New England).

I have heard that the biggest problem with U-Verse is the HD situation.

Personally, I wouldnt go for the HD at U Verse. I have heard that some of subs video signals on the HD has been shaky, at best. Some have reported good HD signals and some have had HD. Actually, the only HD channel I have access to with UVerse is The BIg Ten Network HD. The rest require a $10 per month charge.

UVerse is getting very slow in adding channels, though they did announce that they are adding two channels from HBO for HD. Maybe thats why they are dropping IMF and AZN???

If you want to go HD, choose Dish Network. I used to sub to their service (the SD, not HD) and if you want to save money, get HD, and get a bigger bang for your buck, Id consider Dish Network.
