I love Zooey Deschanel as an actress. She sang for a little bit in her role in "Elf" and I thought she had a wonderfully haunting voice. I was really glad when I found out she had a CD in collaboration with singer-songwriter M. Ward. I really love the tunes on "She & Him". Has anyone heard this album or have any opinions on it?

I really like her as an actress too. She's very different, isn't she? I was so giddy about seeing the movie Failure to Launch because of Matthew shirtless, but Zooey saved the movie really. Her character was hilarious and fit her perfect. Recently I watched her in the mini-series Tin Man from the Sci Fi Channel, it was pretty good. Looks like she has a lot of things in the works:

500 Days of Summer (2008) (pre-production) The Undeniable Charm of Sloppy Unruh (2008) (pre-production) The Robbery of Ellie May (2008) (pre-production) (rumored) .... Ellie May Gigantic (2008) (filming) .... Happy Yes Man (2008) (post-production) .... Renee Allison The Happening (2008) (post-production) .... Alma Moore

I've heard it and was completely disappointed. For some reason they purposely opted to record it lo-fi, which doesn't do her luscious voice justice at all. All of the songs seem to have that twangy M. Ward country vibe to them, mixed with a sort of 60's "standards" style. I was really hoping to hear better production, and a song style closer to say...The Ditty Bops (kind of a retro, roaring 20's, flapper style) or something. She performs with another girl in L.A. from time to time under the moniker 'If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies' which did songs more along those lines, and her voice was very suited to it.
