MC Chris - Fett's 'Vette
My backpack's got jets Well I'm Boba the Fett Well I bounty hunt for Jabba Hutt To finance my 'Vette
Well I chill in deep space A mask is over my face Well I deliver the prize But I still narrow my eyes 'Cause my time I don't like to waste.
You're the night, Lilah. You're everything that I could need. You're a folktale of impossibility. You're the bedtime story, the one that keeps the curtains closed. And I hope you're waiting for me...because I can't make it on my own.
Morphine, The Night
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Pink Floyd, Time
Either
Bob Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue - She was workin' in a topless place And I stopped in for a beer, I just kept lookin' at the side of her face In the spotlight so clear. And later on as the crowd thinned out I just about to do the same, She was standing there in back of my chair Said to me, "Don't I know your name?" I muttered somethin' underneath my breath, She studied the lines on my face. I must admit I felt a little uneasy When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe, Tangled up in blue.
Or Beastie Boys "Professor Booty" - And I'm smurfin not rehearsin' gettin' live y'all A little puffy so you know what I'm doin' right 'Cause that's the kind of frame of mind I'm in I got a feelin' that's back again So don't touch me 'cause I'm electric And if you touch me you'll get shocked!... I've been through many times In which I thought I might lose it The only thing that saved me Has always been music... 'Cause life ain't nothing but a good groove A good mix tape to put you in the right mood
Dylan and the B-Boys are just freakin lyrical geniuses that I will never be able to touch. Makes me happy and sad all at the same time.
I LOVE Tangled Up in Blue. Talk about telling a story.
And Springsteen. One of my favorite lines is from "Does this Bus Stop at 82nd Street?":
And Mary Lou she found out how to cope, she rides to heaven on a gyroscope. The Daily News asks her for the dope. She says "Man, the dope's that there's still hope".
BTW, Wikipedia calls it "a wholly incomprehensible song, lyrically."
