Who would have ever thought of reclining at a Rolling Stones concert while munching on popcorn...all for only a few bucks? Apparently Martin Scorsese did. I recently watched the new Stones documentary/live concert movie on the IMAX. At first I was a little disconcerted at seeing Keith and Mick ten times larger than life. Reality is though...these guys can still rock! And the filming was excellent. Add in the 12,00 watts of digital surround sound and you almost feel like you're there...almost. Although I only went in the first place because I had free tickets, I would definitely suggest paying to see it if you like the Stones or rock 'n roll in the least. One word of warning though...if you go to the IMAX on S Meridian watch out for the automated ticket taker...he's kinda creepy.
This one isn't in 3D like U2, right? In 3D, it REALLY feels like you're there in person.
No unfortunately it's not. I did actually see the U23D as well. Definitely feels a lot more real life!
I saw the previews for the Stones. I'm excited to go see it. Thanks for the info.
Which IMAX is this showing at? Only at the one downtown or on the southside too?
I saw it on the southside but I think it's both. When I saw U23D downtown they were advertising it there.
Cool, thanks neflynn, been waiting for this film and I haven't been to the IMAX on the shouthside yet.
I looked at the tracklist for the film on IMDB, no "Miss You" or "She's a Rainbow"...bummer.
I'll probably still check it out...U2 3D was pretty cool, I saw it in Hollywood and Keanu Reeves sat right in front of me. Dude was rocking out in this seat.
I had a free pass and saw this at the new IMAX theater in Noblesville. The IMAX theater was huge! The Stones rocked, wish it would have been 3D, but still entertaining!
I had a free pass from WTTS to watch this on the first. It was horrible!! I'm not a big Stones fan to start off with (I'm partial to my beatles)but how they could not play "Gimme Shelter" and "Paint it Black" amazes me!
True enough there were several songs that could or should have been in the set list but I still enjoyed it. Too bad they couldn't do something like that with the Beatles. Have you seen Across the Universe yet? I thought it was ok but I expected a lot more from it. Left me a little disappointed really.
I am usually very strong on my belief that no Beatles song should ever be redone or remade at all because it is already at its perfection, but with Across the Universe it is a little bit different because they put a whole different spin on the songs. the tempo and sound is completely different but it sounds great. plus there was a ton of songs in that movie. If you get the DVD and watch all the behind the scenes stuff it is great.
I would consider The Rolling Stones the greatest Rock 'n Roll band of all time, and if you see this movie you can see why. They are, quite frankly, amazing. Consider this, it has been almost 45 years since their first US tour and they are still one of the most energetic bands I've seen in concert. 45 years of tours, and they are still together. I think it's a beautiful thing to see, especially nowadays when a new band can hardly make it through one tour without breaking up. This is what music is all about.
