Indianapolis definitely has some booze-shopping gems. Kahn's Fine Wine and Spirits is great, but I know there's a lot more out there.
Has anyone had especially great service at a local wine or liquor store that they were really excited about? I'm especially interested in places that welcome wine or higher-end spirit beginners with both knowledge and non-snobbery.
Of course, budget-minded gal that I am (aren't we all these days?), good prices don't hurt either.
Mass Ave Wine Shop is a nice place. They have one wall of wines with 50 at $15 or less. And, on Mondays they have a special of Buy 3 Wines Get 1 Free. That's a pretty good deal. It's a small shop but that's what I like - it's not overwhelming. They also carry a few excellent micro & import beers. And, they have a cold case where they carry some wonderful imported cheeses and meats which you can ask for samples of any. We enjoy going there and getting a few bottles of wine and a few different small amounts of meats & cheeses and going home to make a meal of it with some fresh-baked artisian bread. Oh, they are also extremely nice here and will answer any questions that you may have and offer suggestions if asked. They're located at 878 Massachussetts Ave. We have never purchased a bottle of wine here that we did not like.
