Vital Remains is an American death metal band from Providence, Rhode Island formed in 1988 by Paul Flynn.Tony Lazaro and Jeff Gruslin came into the band in 1989. Jeff left the band in early 1996 and Paul was soon to follow in 1997.Paul returned to the scene in 2004 and asked Jeff to join his new project "GODLESS RISING". Tony is the only remaining original member. The band is influenced by the likes of Slayer, Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Sodom, and Destruction. Originally comprised of members guitarists Paul Flynn and Tony Lazaro, vocalist Jeff Gruslin, bassist Tom Supkow, and drummer Chris Dupont, the group has been through several line-up changes (as well as record labels) over the years, but it has not gotten in their way of issuing albums on a regular basis. A pair of demos (1989's Reduced to Ashes and 1990's Excruciating Pain) led to a contract with French label Thrash Records, who in turn issued The Black Mass in 1991.
The band's lyrics are almost entirely anti-religion, with themes of Satanism, the Apocalypse, and other blasphemous topics.
Demiricous are a death/thrash metal band out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Within a couple of months of forming, guitarist Ben Parrish (formerly of Upheaval on Willowtip Records) joined the band and they began to take their project more seriously. In 2005, they self-released a demo which caught the attention of Metal Blade.
Their debut album, One (Hellbound) was recorded and mixed at Planet-Z Studios with Zeuss (Hatebreed, The Red Chord, Shadows Fall) in June 2005 and released later that year. Following this the band set out on a tour with Himsa in late 2006.
It has also been stated that the bands name, Demiricous, has no significant meaning at all and is just a made up word. The band have already gained a worldwide fanbase with their debut album, and have earned the respect and praise of metal icons Slayer.
Their follow-up album, Two (Poverty), was released in 2007.
