Matt Bare wants to help people channel their rage, disappointment and dissatisfaction.

He wants to help them vent in a safe and legal manner, with a positive and less destructive expression of emotion.

He wants them go online, to his company's Web site -- www.pooyou.com -- to enter a personalized message to the object of their anger, and to send them a neat package. A package of poo. Odorless worm poo, to be specific.

Bare, 22, is a Ball State senior from Yorktown, and creator of PooYou.com, a company entered in the Nascent 500 -- a collegiate entrepreneurship contest being held Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The winner receives $10,000.

So tell me a little about a Poo-You message. What is it?

Everybody has their own prerogative. You can use it to send a birthday card or a Christmas card -- we launched before Valentine's Day and had a couple sent as valentines. It's a great way to break up with an ex, or a prank for your best friend. It's 100 percent real poo. 100 percent safe. 100 percent odor-free. 100 percent biodegradable and 100 percent to the point. Our research has really shown that people want to use it more to have fun than if they're really ticked off. We don't really restrict anybody's message. It's all gift-packed with tissue paper and ribbons, and everyone can send their custom message, anonymously or signed.

Where/how did you come up with this idea? I mean, worm poo?

It's always been something you play around with, from the time you see it in movies, people lighting a bag of it on fire on someone's doorstep. We thought it would be funny if you could send it to people. And we think that there is a business in it, not just a fad or an overnight thing. Things have been going great. Our expectations have been exceeded to this point.

The idea is certainly a different one. But I believe the format for pitching your idea at Friday's Nascent 500 is also somewhat unusual.

We have 500 seconds to convince the judges that our idea is a good idea. The first round is in the back of a limousine, one lap of the track.

You climb into the back of a limo and you have eight minutes to convince them that your idea is worth investing in.

No PowerPoint, just whatever you can say to persuade the judges that the idea is good. From there, one team from each bracket goes to the 8final.

So how many people have told you that Poo-You is a -- wait for it -- crap idea?

Not really very many. Most of them who have don't fall into our target market. There's a group we knew wouldn't 8respond well to the idea.

At different pitches you know there are people who won't respond to it. But everybody thinks it is a fun idea, and it's definitely different. PooYou really sticks out. As soon as they see the name on the program, everybody wants to know what it's about. The idea is sticky.
