Material discovered at computer shop; cops say man admitted watching pornography at school

A Pike High School teacher has been arrested on 16 counts of possessing child pornography and could face additional charges as an investigation continues.

Jason T. Krockenberger, 35, took his computer to The Computer Shop in Brownsburg to get rid of a virus, according to court documents from the Brownsburg Police Department. A store employee discovered child pornography videos and reported him to the Brownsburg Police Department on June 18.

Police booked Krockenberger, Brownsburg, into the Hendricks County Jail at 5 p.m. Thursday, and he posted $5,000 bail an hour later, said Brownsburg Police Detective Jennifer Pyatt.

Efforts to reach Krockenberger on Friday were unsuccessful.

The investigation is ongoing, so police could add more charges, Pyatt said. Krockenberger does not have a criminal record.

Investigators are searching computers in Krockenberger’s classroom for child pornography, Pyatt said.

None of the pornography that police have found involves Pike students, she added.

Pike school officials helped police gather evidence from Krockenberger’s classroom, but they were not available to discuss the case Friday afternoon.

Krockenberger admitted to having child pornography on his home and laptop computers and to taking his laptop to his classroom so he could watch pornography at school, according to a Brownsburg Police Department news release.

In a probable-cause affidavit, police said he later admitted that he used at least two school computers to watch child pornography.

Krockenberger, a regular customer at The Computer Shop, told an employee during an April visit that he thought he was addicted to pornography, according to the affidavit, which also stated that he told police he is sexually attracted to girls ages 12 to 16.

Krockenberger, an earth science teacher at Pike, has been with the district about five years, Pyatt said.

He taught science for Brownsburg Schools from 2000 to 2004, said Donna Petraits, director of communications for Brownsburg Schools.

Krockenberger also taught in Terre Haute for a year, according to the affidavit.
