What happens when designers challenge standard ideas about the materials of fashion, garment construction, and the very aesthetics of fashionable dress? What results when the lines between fashion, architecture and sculpture are inventively blurred? In celebration of the opening of the exhibition Breaking the Mode: Contemporary Fashion from the Permanent Collection, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, hear a dialogue with exhibition co-curators Sharon S. Takeda and Kaye Spilker on the process of selecting and acquiring the work of 40 international fashion designers who stretch the frontiers of fashion.
