I've seen the Impossible Shapes play live more than any other band, even Guided by Voices. If you've never heard them play, Monday will be the best time to start the habit. There shall be a mythological vibe in the atmosphere, with tales of Great Ulysses flavoring the night of the Saint Patrick---lead singer Chris Barth is a major James Joyce fan, so there may be some stream of consciousness poetry patter twixt the songs in the Impossible's set. Rounding out the group portrait of artists as young men are Mark Rice, Aaron Deer and Peter King each with more than a shot glass of Irish blood coursing through their psychrock veins. At some point in the evening's festivities I predict an alchemical transformation in which tall boys of PBR will taste like pints of Guiness, foes become friends and your math skills shall dramatically improve. Jorma and the Movie Bare are headlining the show. Also appearing: Eli McCormick and Happy Anarchy (NYC). www.melodyindy.com
