There has been chatter about it on Indy.com for a while but now here's some official word from the owners. - Taffy

.........................................................

On Friday, March 14 the Scholars Inn Restaurant and Wine bar will re-open as SI Restaurant and Lounge. The newly renovated restaurant, located at 725 Mass Ave, will feature a new chef, new décor and an ultra-lounge. Updated hours and offerings also accompany the re-opening.

SI's new chef, Jake Brenchley, has worked at the Bloomington location for the past 18 months. Brenchley is a French-trained, Cordon Bleu Academy graduate and plans to incorporate a fresh new menu, changing a select number of items per month. The menu will remain moderately priced. The restaurant will be open seven days a week, including the famous Scholars Inn brunch on Sundays.

SI's new décor reflects a warmer, more intimate atmosphere. Not only will the colors take on a richer tone, but the restaurant itself is getting a makeover including new carpet, chairs, custom high-back booths, exclusive artwork and custom-designed marble-top tables in addition to white-linen covered tables.

The existing bar area will be converted in to an ultra-lounge complete with new upscale lighting, furniture and décor. The lounge will feature a separate menu and will stay open until 3 a.m.

Lyle Feigenbaum, owner of SI, said the inspiration behind the remodel came from the song "Bittersweet Faith" on the The Devil Wears Prada soundtrack. The lounge's music will help to create an intimate, yet upbeat, atmosphere. The upstairs will be transformed in to the second-level dining area centered around a 21-foot light-infused community table. The back room will glow with a chic custom-made fireplace.

In the spring, SI will renovate the outdoor area by removing the fireplace and adding more seating to the patio.

The restaurant officially opens at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14 and is now taking reservations. Please call (317) 536-0707 or visit www.scholarsinn.com for additional information.
