I'm ready for it to get warm so that I can plant my flowers and vegetables! Days like today and last weekend are teases that make me feel more motivated for spring activities than I should be. We live on a busy street so I usually plant super tall sunflowers to shade the porch a bit. Last year I tried to get twelve o'clocks to sprout in front of the sunflowers and failed completely. Besides that I almost always plant zinnias because they're pretty and easy. I usually do most of our vegetables in boxes because the soil at our house is so poor and the dogs usually trample them anyways. In the past I've had the most luck with peppers and herbs. Is anyone else here ready to plant? What are you most excited to put in the ground this season?
Tell me about it, last Sunday when it was so nice I went to Kmart and got some stuff to work out side (my yard needs help - just got a new place) and now I can't get out there to do anything. Bad thing is a bought 3 rose bushes, I put them by a window and have been watering them. They are starting to grow.
The soil sucks at my house, too, but I started a compost pile last summer for that reason. I'm going to turn over a patch of ground with all that new good material and plant tomatoes, peppers and some other basic stuff.
I ordered fruit plants, blueberry bushes and strawberries. I am hoping the blueberries take and render a good crop over the years.I can't wait to make homemade sherbert with them.
