... P.F. Chang's?

I ask because a recent indy.com straw poll indicated that people are really keen on that restaurant, more so than most Asian restaurants in Indy. I'm looking for someone to articulate the exact appeal of the place (I've never been), for print in our upcoming Dining Guide.

Have at it. In a couple of paragraphs, tell us what's so great about P.F Chang's. Make a contribution.

PF Chang's offers unique menu items and an upscale atmosphere unrivaled by other local Chinese restaurants.

I definitely think that part of its allure is the upscale atmosphere, which also implies that the food is of better quality (which, in my opinion is true).

It also offers unique options such as their famous lettuce wraps though. These things are excellent! I usually order these as my entree.

I have a funny story about this place. I was scanning the menu and at some point saw something on the menu with eggplant in it, and quickly skimmed over it. I ended up ordering Kung Pao Chicken, and when it came to the table it had little purple things in it. I remember thinking "Huh...I didn't think this had eggplant in it." But being the adventurous type (having never tried eggplant before) I popped a whole one in my mouth and started chewing. INSTANT....SEARING....PAIN!!! With almost comedic timing, the waitress came back over to say "You might want to watch those peppers...they're a little hot.", but by then my tongue had gone numb and my eyes were bulging. I downed 3 glasses of tea within minutes, ate bread to try to soak up the juice, and finally started acting like I was wiping my mouth with my napkin, when in fact, I was actually licking it to get this devil substance off my tongue. Worst restaurant visit ever. Even rice hurt my tongue after that.

But they have the best calamari in town, with a chili bean sauce and coarse salt and pepper.

Average food, faux upscale atmosphere and overpriced. I'd rather eat from a whole in the wall. There are several chinese restaurants in Indianapolis that put this place to shame.

Not saying I haven't and won't eat there, but there are much better options.

Plus I think its hilarious that its the only Chinese restaurant with all white workers.

I like it for a different kind of Chinese (I'd call it maybe upscale americanized chinese). I worked there for forever, so there's a lot of stuff I love about it. I like that everything is made fresh and to order so that you can modify it any way you please. I also like the large selection of vegetarian choices they offer (veggie lettuce wraps esp!!). And they have a really good wine list and some fun cocktails.

But sometimes you just crave a more traditional chinese and that's when the other chinese restaurants come into play. In my mind PF Changs and other chinese restaurants are two different things.

Aficionados of PFChangs, just goes to show the shallow connossieurs of authentic chinese food, that is why they do so well in Indianapolis. get a life Indy.

I have enjoyed their lettuce wraps once upon a visit. Went there with some friends one time to celebrate. It was the first time I had been there for a meal. I wasn't impressed at all with the food (I don't remember what I ordered, everyone ordered some time of meat dish), and found it extremely overpriced. I don't feel that it provides the enjoyable experience that it costs to eat there. Not very good bang for your buck in my opinion.

Nothing really, you are paying for their "atmosphere" and service, and sometimes its not even that great of service. Really there food is just about as good as a Bon BBQ, (people from Columbus would know) I dont think your getting what you pay for.
