Funny story: Back two years ago, our first Daylight savings time was also when we had Big Ten Tournaments in town. I LOVE when Indy does something big that draws a lot of people from different places and accordingly spent the entire day in The Pub across from Conseco Fieldhouse.
By the time we were out that night, I was completely shmammered and crying my eyes out about the whole thing. I was so concerned that I might be late for work the next day (I was a waitress, thus explaining sunday work) that I ran out of the bar without telling my friends and put myself in cab home... even though my car was downtown and I would need a friend to drive me to it before work. My friends followed approximately two minutes later in their own cab. I have never since lived it down... not a very good start to the Indiana DST phenomenon.
I know we've had it for a couple of years now, but what do you think about day lights savings time? I personally don't like it, but I think that's because:
a) I grew up in Indiana and never thought we needed it b) I have flashbacks of above story ;)
I can see the merit in having late nights, but just when the drive to work started getting light, it gets dark again... that's depressing. And I heard on the radio this morning that traffic accidents increase when we all have to spring forward!
Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead!
They should have left the time alone. I grew up in the country and have always enjoyed daylight in the early morning. This whole thing was supposed to have saved consumers money but the reality is that it costs more money in energy.
I'm an early morning person, so DST doesn't matter much to me. Now if sunrise came at about 4 AM I'd be happy!
I hate spring forward... but I love fall back. I prefer the old way though - life was much more simple when we refused to move with the rest of the world. I like that midwestern angst dangit!
