Indy's Signature Food
Philly has the cheesesteak, St. Louis has toasted ravioli, Chicago has deepdish pizza...so what's Indy's signature food. My vote would be tenderloin sandwich.
Can we get popcorn? Or maybe the Steak n Shake steakburger & fries? I did a blog on this...but I can't remember what I came up with.
Good call on popcorn. I hadn't thought about that. I think Indiana and Nebraska are 1 and 2 in terms of popcorn production. And Orville Redenbacher is from Brazil, IN.

I'm all for the breaded pork tenderloin. Especially when it's at LEAST twice as big as the bun.
yes, twice the size of the bun pork tenderloin is #1 with no doubt. but here is where we get into some dirt: condiments.
i believe with my hoosier heart that all tenderloin sandwiches require pickles, white onion, and mustard. some may say no onions on the sandwich, but onion rings on the side. hogwash! the side should be crinkle cut fries with seasoned salt, maybe a bowl of cole slaw too.

Absolutely a breaded tenderloin sandwich. Preferably with mayo and dill slices. And fries (crinkle cut is okay but, really, any will do).
I just found this site dedicated to tenderloin sandwiches. The guy is insane about them. Plenty of represenation for Indiana, but we may have competition with Iowa. From the few pictures I looked at, the difference seemed to be the sheer enormity of Indiana pork tenderloin sandwiches, especially compared to the others. If it's not twice the size of the bun, then it shouldn't count.

BBQ on the tenderloin is the best! baby rays BBQ on an over sized tenderloin at Mulberry's is perfection!
