So, I'm a bit of a nerd, but I'm not ashamed of it. In fact, I even have a big of nerd pride. I proudly display my Archie bobble heads on my desk at work, I wear Spider-Man and Superman jerseys in public, I stood in line to buy tickets to Star Wars Episode I, and I have 4 different ways to wirelessly stream movies and TV shows from my PC network to the televisions in my house.
One of my nerdiest recent achievements was installing a lighted LED faucet in my bathroom that makes the water blue when it's cold and red when it's hot.
So join me, my nerd brothers and sisters and post why you are worthy of being in the nerd brotherhood.
Superhero movies excite the crap out of me. Yes, even bad ones! I like all things 'Star Trek.' Not as bad as some 'Trek' fans that I would name my kid Spock though. I thought the 'Star Wars' prequels were lame compared the original trilogy. I'm currently wearing a t-shirt with the Batman symbol on it. I own most of the 'Stargate' franchise on DVD. Oh, I could go on and on...
Yah, the Star Wars prequels were horrible. So bad, in fact, that I'm no longer the Star Wars geek I once was. I used to buy every Star Wars action figure that came out, I had the t-shirts, I had the comic books, I had both version of the $40 box set of the original Trilogy on video. I actually wrote articles for some of the Star Wars fan magazines back in the early nineties.
Then Star Wars Episode I came out and broke my heart. I sold off my toys, I stopped wearing the t-shirts, I only read the comics if they had to do with the original trilogy and not the new films.
We should have known George Lucas had lost it when he put out the Special Editions of the original trilogy and basically ruined them. Spielberg did the same thing with E.T. when he replaced the guns with walkie talkies. Basically, these guys used to be cool and now they're old and conservative and going back and changing their art.
I hope they don't ruin the new Indiana Jones movie by having the Nazis go after Indiana with walkie talkies.

Yeah, the prequels had WAY to many special effects. The plots revolved around those instead of the actual story. With the original trilogy, it was the exact opposite. I had all of the ORIGINAL 'Star Wars' toys when they first came out. I have a friend who STILL has a few of the ships in their original packaging. A quick search through Ebay and seeing what some of those toys are now going for, makes me regret my pyro stage when I was kid. The less said about that phase, the better. I think Lucas learned something by screwing up 'Star Wars' with all of those needless special editions. Indy 4 is said to have minimal digital effects and they're only releasing the movie to theaters that are still using actual film projectors. He's fighting commies this time. That's what I call (pardon the pun) a new hope!
What's funny is that the vintage Star Wars toys were worth about 10 times what they're worth now BEFORE the new trilogy came out. The new movies actually DECREASED the value of Star Wars collectibles on Ebay.
