An East Side Classic!!!: Long before anyone ever heard of Subway, there was this place. Located on Indy's far east side (my old stomping grounds!) this place has been around for nearly 30 years. It's not a fancy place like a lot of those other franchise-based places and that's probably one of the biggest charms of the place really. I've been going there for as long as I can remember and I don't think that they've re-modeled the place once. They've always had a much wider assortment of things on their menus that the bigger places don't have. Yeah, they have the standard subs that a lot of those places do but, they also have fried mushrooms (a favorite of mine) and candy! That's right...CANDY! They also have bigger sandwhiches at much better prices. That means that you could easily get a 16-inch sub and a side item easily for the price of 1 thing from that bigger place down the street. A lot of the far east side has changed (for the worse I might add) but, this place is STILL there! My favorite sub shop.

the best FREAKING tenderloin in the world. take notes... this is old school, not one of those chains where your dollar doesnt matter so they don't care about service. I too grew up out east and sometime this week I am going to the Sandwich Machine. Thanks for this nostagic reminder of days past...

Oh, those tenderloins are killer, aren't they? Everything on their sandwiches tastes like real food too. You really don't get that from these other places, do you?

I haven't had them but I've had just about everything else there over the years.

It's old school as hell but, that's part of it's charm after all of these years.

If this tells you anything, my mom and dad used to hang out there all the time when they were dating. There's a possibility I was conceived in the parking lot. Well, not really, but I'm just saying...

Yes...mmm, corn nuggets.

I don't eat pork, but have a fantastic catfish fillet sandwich, which really looks like the side of a fish, not a little square.

Oh, the Sandwich Machine has great onion rings, broccoli & cheese soup, and the sour cream & chive potato wedges with sour cream on the side just takes me to a whole nother plane....
