FOCUS: MIDWEST
Reception March 7th, 6-10pm
On View March 7 - 29th, 2008.
The MiCo is pleased to present Focus: Midwest, a selection of works by 8 talented artists based in the Midwest. Curated by Scott Grow, this exhibition hopes to bring attention to the artists and work produced in the region. The exhibition consists of photography, sculpture, painting, video, and an audio installation. These artists will take over MiCo's temporary showroom at 1043 Virginia Ave, Suite 4, in Fountain Square from March 7-29.
Open to the public Fridays 5-7pm and Saturdays 1-4pm or by appointment.
These artists were culminated from an open call selection process and chosen for the quality and impact of each artists submissions. With examples such as Adam Ekberg's humble, silent photos and videos of fleeting magical moments, from a fragile bubble on the grass, to the lights of a disco ball in the woods dancing upon a floor of snow. Or take the works of Kay Westhues, whose portraits of people and places in small town Indiana, offer us an honest and respectful view of middle America.
