Too many shows, too much drinking. Our heads are pounding from the combination of a weekend of shows and way too much scotch. Thankfully this week offers a reprieve from the continuous run of shows and...what's that you say? This week is a log jam of great shows? Well pull out the earplugs and put on your drinking boots because this week is crammed to the gills with rock, bluegrass, and metal madness.

They Might Be Giants
The Bluebird - 8pm - $18
Tickets available at Tracks, Landlocked Music, and ticketmaster.com They Might Be Giants come from a time, let's call it the good old days, when highly literate, two-man geek rock ruled the college radio waves. The Avett Brothers
The Bluebird - 9pm - $10
Tickets available Tracks, Landlocked Music, and ticketmaster.com. http://www.theavettbrothers.com
Bluegrass with the fun and energy of rock and roll. We can't describe it any better than they describe themeselves: "The songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, is really why people are talking, and why so many sing along.
They are a reality in a world of entertainment built with smoke and mirrors, and when they play, the common man can break the mirrors and blow the smoke away, so that all that's left behind is the unwavering beauty of the songs. That's the commotion, that's the celebration, and wherever The Avett Brothers are tonight, that's what you'll find."

Black Cobra are a sludge rock metal duo from the city by the bay making up for alack of band members with piss and volume.
