I spent my Saturday morning at Ft. Harrison for the "Indianapolis Marathon," half-marathon and 5K. I will refrain from making comment on the fact that the Indianapolis Marathon is not held in Indianapolis (whoops, I guess I just did) because it really was a great event. The weather was gorgeous, and the activities following the race entertaining. The 5K course could use a little variety, but I hope the marathon & half marathon runners enjoyed their courses. I would like to see this event continues to grow.
I thought Ft. Ben WAS a part of Indpls. We still pay those taxes, that's for sure!
The marathon is always a nice event; beautiful fall weather, good views through the state park, and plenty of volunteers. I didn't run this year, but in years past, it has been a very QUIET run...maybe could use some entertainment along the way, especially at those tough miles, like 9-13 and 16-26!!
I don't know....I live in Lawrence Twp, Indianapolis, but have trouble figuring out where Indianapolis stops and the city of Lawrence begins. You're right, according to the zip code of Ft. Ben it is in Indianapolis (www.usps.com, zip code 46216), but Deborah Cantwell seemed to act like it was the city of Lawrence's event. pffff... whatever...enjoyed it nonetheless. :)
