Every other Sunday, including today, Oct. 21, until it's too cold (and probably for a while there afterwords) Acoustic drummers and poi and staff fire dancers gather at White River State Park downtown to practice their craft and perform for passers-by. 7pm - ?
Anyone is welcome, and there are usually extra instruments and someone willing to teach any of the skills to the initiated.
Any word if this will happen again this fall? I missed this one. Thanks for the heads up.I hope this happens again next season.
The drummers should be back on Nov. 7, but I bet they show up this Wednesday, too. I'll be sure to put up another post. Soon it will be too cold.
And there is this on Holloween...
Grab a shovel and head to White River State Park on Halloween night!
Join Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and friends in a night-time tree planting and Halloween fest, starting at 10:00 pm. (Actually, we'll provide the shovels.)
Highlights include: DJ Kyle Long doing what he does best ~ spinning international hip-hop and world music; firespinners lighting the night sky with poi to keep the spirits away (or to invite them to join!), tree planting (cause a party wouldn't be a party without trees), multiple bonfires, gourmet smores (with Endangered Species Chocolate), spiced cider, and acoustic music later on!
Costumes and ghost stories highly encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for best costume, most unique costume and lame attempt at a costume. Bring a headlamp or flashlight! Bring an instrument if you so desire!
Meet by the outdoor stage at White River State Park.
