Nielsens: 36.3 million go for Oscar gold
•Oscar glory. ABC's Academy Awards drew 36.3 million viewers Sunday, up about 4 million over last year but still the show's third-lowest ever. Also up were the Barbara Walters Special (11.5 million), red-carpet preview (24.4 million) and E!'s two-hour arrivals fest (2.8 million). Still, Fox won the weekly race.
•Dance-off. Disney Channel took the crown over Nickelodeon Monday as original movie Dadnapped (4.6 million) bested its rival Spectacular (3.7 million).
•Second weeks. Fox's Dollhouse fell to 4.3 million, down half a million from its unspectacular opener, but HBO's Eastbound and Down (616,000), though low, held up nicely against the Oscars despite plunging lead-in Flight of the Conchords (469,000). Comedy Central's Important Things With Demetri Martin (1.7 million) dropped 30% of its premiere-week audience.
•En fuego. Univision's finale of telenovela Fuego en la Sangre (Fire in the Blood) scored a big 6.6 million viewers Friday.
•Chancepays. HBO's Taking Chance saluted 2 million viewers Saturday, the pay channel's biggest audience for an original movie since 2004. Monday's documentary Right America:Feeling Wronged was low with 495,000.
•So long. The near-certain series finales of CBS' Worst Week (8.7 million Monday) and CW horror-reality series 13: Fear Is Real (800,000 Friday) were typically inadequate.
•Cable notes. Friday's season send-offs of USA's Monk (5.5 million) and Psych (4.8 million) were big; Bravo's Real Housewives of New York opened its second season with a series-high 1.6 million viewers behind Orange County's fourth-season finale (2 million); TLC's Little People, Big World returned Monday with 1.8 million; and the season premiere of TV Land's High School Reunion managed 726,000 Wednesday.
