Last night at the lovely Mel there was a nice little show featuring 4 bands. The first was a god awful bar rock/goof band from the cheesehead state called Facesteak.Facesteak with their hodgepodge look and well crafted yet bad tunes over stayed their welcome for me.I can only take bad silk open shirts and panda masks for so long. Next up was a nice quartet of well groomed boys from indy going by the name Rooms. This band truly stole the night for me with wellcrafted math rock esque sounds ,a solid back beat and some amzing guitar harmonies. After Rooms left the stage We Are Hex was up. This was a group I had heard a lot of good things about but had never seen. Well let me tell you what a let down.The one redeeming thing I could find is that the drummer is one solid and right on mfer. as for the songs it was a watered down version of the YEAH YEAH YEAHs. with a very bad Karen O impersonator.Last but not least was A Ceasar Holiday. This band hmmm were to start with this band.... at first I thought this isn't so bad they had a bit of a gGod speed you black emperor feel or maybe even three mile pilot but then bang theses howling like vocals came from the violin player and that sealed the deal I was out of there fast then a john in a w---- house bust. just a reminder these are only the opinions of the mustache the mustache does not care if you agree or disagree.
