5,000 attend St. Lawrence's first fall fest
St. Lawrence Catholic Church estimates that 5,000 people attended the Northeastside church’s first community fall festival.
The church at 46th Street and Shadeland Avenue expanded its fall celebration from a church-only event to a three-day festival with carnival rides, live music, games and casino games, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Rain kept the crowds small on Friday, but didn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance, said social chair Michelle Kolosso.
Kolosso said, “We had 700 volunteers for the weekend and nothing but positive feedback.”
Featured bands included the Flying Toasters, The Tides and Dave&Rae as well as high school garage bands including November from Cathedral, Molotov from Chatard and Cathedral, the Scecina Rock Band and Epic Fail made of graduates from the Scecina Rock Band.
Money raised from food and carnival games will help fund programs at the church and school. The church didn’t have a total raised Tuesday.
The church plans to continue the tradition next year.
