I been asking myself that alot lately...I consider myself a great writer and poet and talent in general but when it comes to performing.....what would you do if you wasn't afraid...is what I have to ask myself....I want to say I am just shy but that is not true I am one of those folks that would tell the president, "hey dude I dig your shoes". I keep hearing the Nelson Mandela speech sayin Im not afraid of bombing but succeeding...and the bible saying for he has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind....not neccessarily in that order but anyway I hope to grace a stage somewhere, somehow soon....a bit of a confession folks ......pray for ya girl...
Just do it. No one is going to laugh at you or anything. Don't think about it, just go do it.
What is it you fear? I have yet to run across an open-mic venue that wasn't welcoming and supportive, especially to people who might be shy. Perhaps you first need to find a small circle of writers and poets who meet and discuss their works. This should get you comfortable about sharing your work.
Whenever you are ready.... I've been looking for you. Midtown Arts EVERY Sunday... if not now, then when? :)
