Okay, so we all want to get a little good karma in our lives right? But what happens when the karma gods at indy.com notice that people are writing... um... "reviews" just to get their weight up? Hypothetically, if there was a user that OBVIOUSLY went down the list of restaurants (in alphabetical order no less), dropping three sentence worthless "reviews", would bad karma be on tap? I mean , I'm not wishing anything on anyone... but maybe I AM hatin' a lil bit ;)
I wrote a ton of reviews last month (before the prizes) but they were all legit - and only at places I had actually eaten/been. But I understand what you are saying. I wonder how you would check against that.
I wrote a ton of reviews last month (before the prizes) but they were all ...
well... I don't know, but if you look at the recent reviews section... there is someone (I'm not saying any names), who "reviewed" a lot of restaurants (in alphabetical order)... that is until another indy.com user called her on it... then like Kaiser Sozay... she vanished...
I'm not going to tell you exactly how it all goes down. (Me doing that would make it that much easier for people to 'game' the system.) But I will volunteer you this: We see and know what people do what to get what points. There are minimum word counts on some things and stop measures that allow us to take account/correct abuse. Don't you worry. We wouldn't play you like that. :)
Someone upset that there are other people with over 1000 points?
Oh good to know. ;) I ran out of places to review for now - I think I did every place I had ever been to since moving to Indy (just the west side and Castleton area) We should review business too - like stores.
Oh C'mon...
If it wasn't for {Name witheld to protect Laura99in's identity} spot on review of every Olive Garden and O'Chucks in the city, how would any of us know where to get "Bottomless Spaghetti and Botulism" and ..."really great rolls..."
And if it wasn't for her, none of us would know that Panera Bread is "Great!".
s.h.
Sewer Harpy, that's hilarious! Great stuff.
It was I. I called her out. I couldn't stand it when I read: YOu can get One Two or Three options. Sounds like the Count from sesame st.!
Someone upset that there are other people with over 1000 points?
Nope. Not at all... But there is a right way and there is a wrong way to do things... I suppose I just tend to prefer doing things the right way... and as you'll notice, it was ronlewhorn who called her out because it was bogus and the points illgotten.
It was I. I called her out. I couldn't stand it when I read: YOu ...
LOL!
THREE! THREE COMBINATIONS!! ah ah ahhhhhhh.
If there's a problem with a review, feel free to use the "Report abuse!" link.
you would think one would know that if they are offering up a laptop for give-away, that would mean you can't just get the points by throwing up a couple sentences everywhere....i knew that...i mean that would be too simple....but....when simple minded, actions have no options ...except to be simple.
Good
point
Randy!
Oops!
I mean
Allen.
I wasn't going to say anything but I feel like I have to defend myself here. I didn't review a place I haven't been to. So I didn't just go down the list and hit every place because I haven't been to every place in the city, that wouldn't be honest. I went down the list because I was doing reviews at that moment and that was the way I could keep track of where I have been. I did some the other day by area. I had to look at them twice to make sure I didn't already post. Sorry if my title description wasn't "Great" enough for you. I'm not a writer. I'm not going to look at an average persons review of a restaurant on here as seriously as an actual Indy.com restaurant reviewer. I'm not an Indy.com restaurant reviewer and that's obvious. I'm here as a guest and I thought I was welcomed as one. Last month when I was posting away everyone loved me, I wrote restaurant reviews then and there weren't any prizes. But this month I'm hated. I didn't just write reviews. I added a lot of pictures too. Whatever. Sorry for liking Panda Express! Cripes!
I've lived here for more than 15 years and I eat out a lot. If you don't think I've eaten at all of those places then you are wrong. I eat out at least once a week and I don't like eating at the same place all the time. There are still 100 restaurants out there I would like to try. But I guess you don't want to hear what I have to say about them. Guess I'm not mean enough for this place :(
Wow, aLLENiMAGERY is a jackass. He's probably the one that flagged everyone's posts. The people that worry about these things are usually the ones that are here for the prizes. If you look at the karma history, Laura was the top poster on this site in January, a month when no prizes were offered. How do you explain that, Allen? You on the other hand, were nowhere to be seen on this site until prizes were offered.
And before you open your mouth, I was also in the top 4 posters here in January before any prizes were offered and would have posted just as much in February, prizes or not.
Wow, aLLENiMAGERY is a jackass. He's probably the one that flagged everyone's posts. The people ...
oh for real? dude, you have no idea. i suggest you keep these posts about what you do or don't like in this city and don't worry about me... this was my opinion, as we all express our opinions on indy.com, but the name calling isn't neccessary or acceptable. funny how you didn't mention RONLEWHORN... scared of him eh? read his comment above. HE was the one who called her out, I just mentioned the whole karma point situation WITHOUT a mention of her.
Karma's a funny thing. Sorry, just had to say it.
oh for real? dude, you have no idea. i suggest you keep these posts about ...
Actually, that's a good point. I should have called out ronlewhorn. Why would I be scared of him?
Anyway, I still think most of the people in the thread who jumped on the Laura-bashing bandwagon weren't here supporting the site in January when there were no prizes like Laura was, so they shouldn't be opening their mouths.
And you were right in your original post, you were "hatin'." Negative posts generate negative replies, which have the opposite effect of bringing us together as a community, which (besides making money) is, I assume, one of the goals of this site. Posts like this aren't needed.
Actually, that's a good point. I should have called out ronlewhorn. Why would I be ...
so no more negative posts... that's your answer? lol you have a lot to learn. THE ALMIGHTY RICTOR HAS SPOKEN. no more movie reviews saying that it sucked people... only positives. if you vommit after eating at a restaurant, keep it to yourselves. and for GOD'S SAKES if you disagree with anything anyone else does or says, just keep quiet.
afterall, our nation is in the state we are in only because people decided not to disagree right? wrong. without people speaking out, we would still be a part of england, women and african-americans would still have no rights, and the world would be a better place-that's your cure huh? lol... wake up man, it's bigger than indy.com
No, I love negativity. I'm the king of negativity and sarcasm. I'm saying let's try not to be so negative to each other and stop worrying about this karma thing so much. I don't remember any bad blood on here in November, December, or January.
i was here in January... and i tell people at ALL of my events about indy.com, because i like it so much. my friends and i even badger each other about our karma points... this is fun until people start to grow all sensitive and DE-FAN u because they disagree with a post :)
i was here in January... and i tell people at ALL of my events about ...
Maybe if it gets too bad when could talk Oprah into buying us all new cars or something.
instead of giving points for posts/comments/pics, they should seed us in a random order. then we all fight to the death and whoever is left standing gets the swag.
Laura don't feel bad. I did a lot a reviews too in January/December I am shock no one called me out on it. Like you a eat out a lot and I enjoyed doing the reviews, some were probably better than others. I am not a writer or a food critic, hehe. My comment to you is if you feel you rightly earned those points, which by the way don't carry over and are GONE, then don't let these peeps get to you.
Funny thing is about this 'negative' post of Allen's is I am sure he is racking in the Karma points from it. It's genious - I love it. Anything that gets people talked - complaining, fighting or other wise is a Karma point gold mine. I bow to you.
i totally disagree with this whole post, i think i will flag it
So who won?
Zing-bada-bing!
I think people finally started catching on that it's an effective karma-point-winning strategy to post negative stuff that gets people all worked up hot and bothered and thus recieving lost of replies hence points! Congratulations!
Stay tuned. Winner's to be announced at noon.
i'm not sure what all of the controversy is about but I like AllenImagery and I think rictor is a dick! hey Laura, Panda Express blows shofars. as a matter of fact, I think I will take this opportunity to write a review about shofars.
SHOFARS
A shofar is a ram's horn. You blow into it and it makes a sound. You have your choice of three sides with that. It tastes good.
so what about the death match stuff? we gonna do that?
Hilarious......completely hilarious.....Wow Allen, I didn't know that you can stir up commotion by just simply making a simple statement.
Love the deathmatch. Make it happen Indy.com!
Hey y'all, where is the love? This is a site where people can express there OPINIONS. Are some of us so fragile emotionally that other people's opinions of us makes us start throwing verbal rocks and having literary tantrums? This bickering & bantering is beyond simple "I see you" and "this is what I think".
If it's about the laptop or HDTV, or whatever, once you get to 1000 Karma points, you're in the DRAWING - key word: DRAWING. The person with the most points doesn't automatically get the prize. You're still subject to chance. Who really freaking cares how some one else builds their Karma, really? Good, bad or indifferent - whatever you send out will come back in like manner; that's real KARMA. If some one figured out how to get over 1000 in a week or less, BRAVO! Learn from them & do your thang.
Hey! No one has said anything negative about Essex and his one word responses, and I'm glad you haven't. He's being sarcastic to bring home a point - in my opinion.
BTW: Who won the Laptop?
