Beatle recordings have come and gone throughout the years. As though I collected music throughout my lifetime as a Beatles fan, there was something about those solo recordings by the Fab Four that caught my ear.
My solo collection basically stuck on John and Paul's works. John's works should basically start at his Plastic Ono Band CD because most of his 60s solo recordings were erratic, at best. I did get a chance to listen to all the Lennon/Ono 60's solo works and lets say that the only way to really appreciate the works is to listen alone on a discman, because if anybody else caught you listening to John and Yoko cooing on The Wedding Album, then a call to the nearest padded room would saffice.
John's strangest works happened when he was on his Lost Weeekend, or close to it. When Mind Games was released, the strangest cut of all is at the end of Side One on the LP. The song?? The Utopian International Anthem. What does the song sound like??? Its all there..,..all silence. Yes, the song is nothing more than mare silence. John also did a song devoted to Beef Jerky on his Wall and Bridges album. Guess strange was to be expected from someone who referred himself as Dr. Winston O' Boogie.
Paul's strangest music was during the year of 1980. Paul released a weird B side of "Waterfalls" (a McCartney song that failed to reach the top 100 on Billboard). The name of the song was "Check My Machine", a rambling of Paul singing offkey with endless callings of "Check My Machine". It was during this timeperiod that Paul was arrested in Japan on drug related charges.
I think the worst from Paul was when he showed Michael Jackson how to acquire music rights to a music catalogue.
I am completely confused to see the words "worst" and "John and Paul" in the same sentence. Of course, I will whole-heartedly agree that Paul's worst decision ever was talking to Michael Jackson. Have you noticed that there is a new Chase commercial that uses "Anytime At all", then the very next commercial was Target using "Hello, Goodbye" That just makes me crazy!
Five words: "Sim-ply Hav-ing a Wonderful Christmastime."
"I think the worst from Paul was when he showed Michael Jackson how to acquire music rights to a music catalogue."
Or when that Knucklehead did an actual duet with him..."Say, Say, Say" anyone...
or,
Does the "Spies Like Us" theme song even count as a song?
Jesus...I just threw up a little.
s.h.
Spies Like Us....geez.....the song was bad, and even the video was bad as well.
I don't know about the status of Michael's rights to the catalog now. Sony was wanting to transfer the rights from Michael to them, but he is so deep in the red that any deal would be almost impossible to approve.
