Riding the coattail of Rob Zombie's success on John Carpenter's 'Halloween' remake, talk was began to go around over 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' remake, and to top it off Robert Englund will not be playing the smart-a** sweater-wearing charred fiend, Freddie Kruger. This really hits me hard because this is the only Wes Craven film I do like and the originality of Freddie compared to the silent slow walking slashers such as Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. And the best thing about Freddie is his killing grounds, you can choose not to go in the abandoned house and the cursed camp ground, but you will have to go to sleep some time. That's why I'm worried if this will be another horrid(in a bad way) remake of an iconic movie like the 'Pink Panther', Steve Martian metaphorically pissed all over Peter Seller's grave.
Seems silly to me to re-make "Nightmare." Freddy as a character is so far beyond other slashers like Michael Myers, Jason, or Leatherface, that to try and recast him is really taking a risk. Will anyone look right in that role other than Robert Englund?
Nope, you can't recast Freddy. Blasphemy.
