Top 10 Live is a collaborative effort between the Indy.com staff and Indianapolismusic.net.
Flogging Molly, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Dusty Rhodes and the River Band
8 p.m., Feb. 10, The Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., sold out, (317) 259-7029.
Flogging Molly (above) has made a name for itself by creating a Celtic-inspired punk sound that's influenced by such bands as The Pogues and The Clash. The act that's most responsible for this show being a sold-out event, though, is Indy's own Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. The roots blues trio is touring with Flogging Molly on more than 30 dates through St. Patrick's Day. Dusty Rhodes and the River Band round out the three-act bill.
Trem Fu CD release with the Coke Dares and Acid Green
9 p.m., Feb.ruary 9, The Melody Inn, 3826 N. Illinois St., $7, (317) 923-4707.
Expect no less than a packed house for Saturday's weekly Punk Rock Night extravaganza. The band we can only call Trem Fu in family-friendly publications visits from Bloomington to celebrate the release of their latest CD, "More Blood in the Monitors." A pair of Punk Rock Night favorites makes this a can't-miss show -- the attention-deficit rock of Tthe Coke Dares and recently reunited Indy hard rockers Acid Green.
The Temptations
8 p.m., Feb. 8, Clowes Hall, 4600 Sunset Ave., $21-$37, (317) 940-6444.
Now more than 40 years into its history, the Temptations have had 26 singers who have been members. This lineup features original Temptation Otis Williams. The rest of the members' time in the group ranges from 25 years to less than a year. The current lineup recorded 2007 album "Back To Front."
Will Hoge, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Dawn Landes
8:30 p.m., Feb. 9, Music Mill, 3720 E. 82nd St., $12, (317) 841-1850.
Saturday's show at the Music Mill will be a celebration of heartland rock. Will Hoge (right) built his fan base the old-fashioned way -- through steady touring and making quality music compared to such artists as Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Jason Isbell was one of the co-leaders of Drive-By Truckers before leaving the band in April 2007 to go solo. New York indie folk artist Dawn Landes completes the lineup.
Reba & Kelly Clarkson
8 p.m., Feb. 8, PM, Friday February 8, Conseco Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St., $36-$56, (317) 239-5151.
Country superstar Reba McEntire is trying to join the ranks of Cher, Madonna and Elvis and become an entertainer known only by a single name. For the "2 Worlds, 2 Voices" tour, country superstar Reba McEntire is simply going by her first name (also the name of her long-running sitcom) as she joins the first "American Idol," champion, Kelly Clarkson. The duo first performed together on CMT's "Crossroads" show in 2007.
Teenage Rehab, Gay Black Republican, Middle Class Trash, Flamingo Nosebleed
8 p.m., Feb. 7, Melody Inn, 3826 N. Illinois St., $6, (317) 923-4707.
Paducah, Ky., may not be known as a hotbed of punk rock, but it's home to two punk acts visiting Indy on Thursday. Teenage Rehab has released a pair of albums on the Amp Records label, and Middle Class Trash joins them on this tour. Fort Wayne punk act Flamingo Nosebleed and Indy's Gay Black Republican (left) complete the lineup.
Vocal Ease
8:30 and 10:30 p.m., Feb. 9, the Jazz Kitchen, 5377 N. College Ave., $15, (317) 253-4900.
Indy is blessed with a surplus of quality jazz vocalists. It seems that you can hear a top-flight singer any night of the week in the city's clubs and lounges. Vocal Ease gives you the opportunity to sample from all the top singers at once. The tentative lineup for this event includes Mary Moss, Cynthia Layne, Everett Greene, Larry Greene, Brenda Williams, Ezra Todd Shelton and Goldie.
Three Mo' Tenors
8 p.m. Feb. 8 and 9, 7 p.m. Feb. 10, Hilbert Circle Theatre, 45 Monument Circle, $30-$70, (317) 262-1100.
The original Three Tenors, the trio of opera superstars who recorded and performed together in the 1990s, inspired many imitator acts. This one, Three Mo' Tenors, is a trio of classically trained African-American singers. The show goes well beyond opera and includes elements of jazz, gospel, R&B and show tunes. The multifaceted show would be a perfect addition to a romantic night Downtown on the weekend before Valentines Day.
Dark Star Orchestra
8 p.m. Feb. 10, Music Mill, 3720 E. 82nd St., $20 in advance, $22 day of show, (317) 841-1850.
Look for a larger crowd than usual at the Music Mill. The club's new policy of allowing patrons 18 and older means Dark Star Orchestra's younger fans can see them. What they'll see is a nearly note-for-note re-creation of a single show from the Grateful Dead's extensive catalog of live performances.
Hurt w/ Virgin Millionaires, Lazarus
8 p.m. Feb. 7, The Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., $17, (317) 259-7029.
Hurt has been rising to the top of the rock world since its debut in 2006. The group had its biggest success in 2007 when single "Ten Ton Brick" reached the top 10 of the U.S. mainstream rock chart. The band will be joined by a pair of Indy acts. Virgin Millionaires (left) is slated to release its debut album later this year. Lazarus features former members of Birdmen of Alcatraz.
Thats really neat. I hope that I can go to that Kelly Clarkson Concert. That would be very neat.
