Tim Robbins (here as Nuke LaLoosh in "Bull Durham") hasn't won many fans with his outspoken liberal politics.

Nothing riles up a cynical, politically aware American like celebrities who publicly support a political candidate. Celebrities who support Democrats get especially bilious responses. Walk into a room of conservatives and bring up the names of Tim Robbins or Alec Baldwin and watch as at least one person sprains an ocular muscle rolling his eyes.

Celebs who support Republicans (strangely, many action heroes fall into this category -- Willis, Stallone, Norris and obviously, Schwarznegger) don't seem to annoy people as much, probably because they're less common.

Having said all that, this video (which features John Legend, Scarlett Johansson, a woman from "Grey's Anatomy" and more) will without a doubt elicit a range of reactions on the dismissive scorn/indignant rage spectrum.

What do you think? Powerful, or powefully lame? See it here:

Slate.com likes the video -- which was produced by Will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas:

I'd say more on the powerful side than the lame side. It's a great idea. If it was a video of celebrities coming across as political know-it-alls when stating why they support Obama, it would receive much more criticism from conservatives.

It will obviously appeal much more to younger audiences. I have to admit, I didn't recognize a handful of the people in the video. I also haven't watched MTV in a very long time.
