My puppy Lola is terrible....Don't be fooled by the picture.
She has never once sat down when I told her to. She runs away when it's time to go out... then runs away from me when we are actually outside. And tears any piece paper to shreds within a ten mile radius.
Any suggestions on where to take her to get formal training? Downtown or Keystone area would be fabulous Suggestions please.
Before anyone says anything, yes I know that Lola's behavior is a direct reflection of how much I failed Thanks
I know the results of poor training first hand. We have a miniature dachsaund and She can't learn crap. I feel like continuing to scold her for things I used to not get on her about is worthless. I think rewards systems are a more effective means of training. You can go pay somebody to tell you this, but you will most likely hear "reward positive behaviors when you command them. Immediately after the behavior. Scold the poor behavior immediately, and then turn it to a positive by getting her to do something positive and then reward." I will bill you soon. thanks.
I'm right there with you Ron. We have TWO mini dachsaunds. Our Male behaves decently but he is almost 3. His only issue is barking and hating everyone that isn't me or my wife. To the point that he will bite. Our girl is just over a year old and she is a spaz. After a year she is finally learning that the outside is for the bathroom. This is where we have an issue the rewards system. She will not come back inside unless she gets a treat. Raining, snowing, freezy....she just stands by at the door until she sees the treat in my hand. Thank god we have hardwood floors. I can understand how Emily might fail as puppy mother(just kidding) but it's good too see that we are not the only ones who struggle with dachsaunds. If it helps Ron, my in-laws also have one that is nearly 5 years old and she is great. They tell us that it took them a good two years to get her that way though. Keep the fight alive!
