I understand that living in Indianapolis would cause people to root against the Patriots. I understand that the hatred for Bellicheat would cause people to root against the Patriots. I understand that loving Peyton Manning would cause people to root for the Giants and Eli Manning. I'm hear to tell you that Eli Manning SUCKS! Eli is the most classless, weasliest, mediocre quarterback in the league. Go back to draft day... Eli and his father force the San Diego Chargers to trade him to the NY Giants. WHY? Why would a young man with the personality of my shoe want to be the face of a New York franchise and face that type of scrutiny? He was perfectly suited for San Diego where everything is laid back. Secondly, he's not that good. Yes, he has now won a Super Bowl and that's awesome but he's a mediocre quarterback at best. I can easily rattle off 15 NFL QB's that are better and as much as I hate the guy he was traded for, Rivers is a better signal calle than Eli. Third, the guy is just flat out boring! How can he be so night and day from his older brother? Take some lessons man! Talk into the mirror or something. Practice. At Super Bowl media day a gay reporter was razzing him and said he was in love with him to which the brilliant Manning stumbled and said, "Um, I'm taken for." I'M TAKEN FOR!? Does that even make sense? LOSER! So, you guys keep rooting for Eli. I'm sure he'll be the new face of the NFL.
But he won.
It's cool that he just did an averagely-good job (mostly in part to an amazing offensive line) and got the free hybrid escalde. What about Tuck. He got robbed. I've never seen hutspah like that from a rook.
Could really care less about who did what and how. He just won the Super Bowl right? I Can't really hate on him for that, on anyone for doing that. I am pretty sure I don't and that you probably don't (and probably anyone else reading this) have the athletic ability to do that...
hiiiiiiiiiiiii
My $0.02 regarding the San Diego situation, trying not to be an apologist. From what I've heard, management in San Diego at the time (not sure about currently) was a complete mess, and Archie and Eli had some leverage and decided to try to get into a better situation. San Diego is good, but given Eli grabbed a ring last year, I'd say he made the right decision.
And more on the "athletes are spoiled, classless, whiny babies" discussion. Think of it this way: professional football players in general have a very limited shelf life, and they sacrifice much of their lives to get good enough to become professionals, usually to the point where 1) the joy they get playing the game is sucked out of them, 2) ruining their bodies, for the sake of 3), being exploited by super-rich owners and league officials who just get richer off of them.
Think of it like this: how much money do you think Eli has generated for the Giants since he came in, from additional TV exposure, ticket sales, jersey and merchandise sales, etc.? I can tell you it's probably quite a bit more than he makes. That money will go to one of three places: Eli, the Giants/the megamillionaire owner, or the league. Should Eli just sit back and let the league determine what and where he goes if he's in a position to change it?
From our perch safely away from the tough choices, it's easy for us to say "if it was me, I'd do it for half of what Eli does, because it's a game...blah blah blah" The fact of the matter is that money is coming in and someone's getting it. Why shouldn't Eli get his fair share, and why should the owner get so much more of it than Eli does?
Who gives a crap about Eli Manning? This is Indianapolis. We. Don't. Care.
Dear ObeyTheDaschund, Nothing better to do with your time? Picking up on what Joe Shearer said above, A.J. Smith(San Diego's GM) is an ASSCAPTAIN! I wouldn't have wanted to play for him either. For most top flight athletes, playing in New York is the ultimate(see both the Knicks & Nets positioning to try & sign LeBron in 2 years!) Would you want to play for him? Do you know anything about football? Are you just mad because of the smallness of your 'unit'? So, comparatively, between you & Eli, which one is really the LOSER? That's what I thought. Please have something of viable content to say next time you post.
