You do realize that not everyone loves sports, right?

yeah of course but i think that there are a lot of people that do enjoy sports as well as the arts and theater and other items (which i do happen to enjoy) but why shouldnt there be a tab for sports!! i mean its a big part of our society .. isnt it or am i just a sports fanatic???

I'm really glad indy.com doesn't cover sports extensively. I would rather the staff focus on arts & entertainment.

okay thats good because i do agree with you that the news media does put too much attention on sports and not enough on the arts and entertainment. I think there should just be a balance everywhere.a

i agree with aaron, that this site should cover all parts of society equally, but also benjamin has a point that sports are covered way too much by the media.

if indy.com covered all parts of society equally then indy.com would just turn into normal news source when in actually it's a A&E mag. If you want "equal coverage" read the Indy Star or USA Today.

benjaminindy is angry at society.

and by the way, posting a picture of the Colts with the caption, "Super Bowl Champions" should be a 12 point deduction on the karma point scale. you can't post that pic with that caption a week after another team won the Super Bowl!

I think there should be a tab for Cornhole.

Nope, just realistic.

I also agree with the fact that sport's gets A LOT of media coverage. For instance, the star, all three local TV stations and even ESPN had a segment about Peyton Manning's facial hair??? Breaking news right there folks.

But I don't think a sports tab would be so bad either. It doesn't necessarily have to "cover" sports as much as it could be a discussion/blog area or a staffer doing features on other sports and games such as a corn hole tourney or the skateboard parks located in town, etc... I guess it could essentially fall under the "things to do" tab, but so could many of the other tabs on here.

If somebody from out of town came to this site to find happenings going on or things to do in town and they liked sports, they would have no luck here.

Oh.... and this was a good one!

DroAc i respect your opinion especially the point where you mentioned that a sports page should be added but only covered as a minor topic, such as a blog on a game or for example the Pacers Brawl in 200?. It would be a great tool for us sports fans as this site is for the Arts & Entertainment people.

azelikovich you make a good point. But how far would the sports coverage go. Would it just be social issues? or events that are going on such as the super bowl of NBA finals, or just about the actual playing of the game..

mastermike on Feb 06, '08 at 09:50 PM

I think it shouldnt cover the actual stats but it should monitor the social impacts it has on society. For instance, the colts winning the super bowl has had a great impact on our local economy.

Sports and Indianapolis go hand in hand with each other. Indy is known as one of the sports capitols in the world. So why wouldnt make sense to create a section for it?
