Why is it that mother's no longer feel connections in the womb

tell me how fathers can stand outside th birthing room

is it ludicrous to think that we all have a right to be loved

or more so to think that no woman or child should be pushed and shoved

can the government get away with telling lies and hogging power for themselves

making a mockery of democracy while freedom sits on their shelves

it's no longer about the relationship of peer and family

but rather removing children from their homes to be placed with total strangers it seems

can't figure out what happened from the time I was born til today

when grandparents and aunts and uncles gave misplaced children a place to stay

no summer running barefoot or riding your bike around the corner anymore

because ther's notelling what danger lies in the man's house just next door

give me back my family ties and friends and family

bring glue to threads and ties that bind my community to me

bond me with my mayor, my pastor, my housing development president

so that the history of separation ends now in this ever hurting present
