If you haven't yet see this show at the Harrison, this weekend is your last chance. I talked to Scott Grow about this show last week and his excitement was palpable. The show obviously took a great deal of work to pull together and the result is definitely worth seeing. Although you can't comfortably hang out in your own backyard weekend (brrrr) you can experience it indoors. Now that's something to be excited about!

BACKYARD - a look at suburban backyard living
Harrison Gallery & Gallery No. 2
The Midwest Museum of Contemporary Art (MiCo) presents Backyard - a look at suburban backyard living. This show brings together emerging contemporary artists who have Each explored the formal and conceptual qualities of the suburban American backyard. Informed by their own experiences and perspectives, these diverse artists have examined how the suburban backyard speaks to the human condition, escapism, leisure, humor, and the American dream.
Backyard presents video work, photography, drawing, sculpture and installations by Meredith Allen, Yoon Cho, Chris Doyle, Rachel Hayes, Matt Lynch, Brian McCutcheon, David A. Parker, Macha Suzuki, Chris Vorhees and Pipo Nguyen-Duy. While each artist's perspective is unique, together their works create a picture of the contemporary suburban landscape, a place where family and friends come together. The work hangs through January 26. Exhibition curated by Scott Grow.
