ATI Announces Launch of ATI Understudy / Intern Program for Upcoming FOREVER PLAID!

Actors Theatre of Indiana (ATI) is Central Indiana's newest professional theatre company founded in 2005. Actors Theatre of Indiana will begin its Understudy Program with its Professional Production of FOREVER PLAID this April.

CARMEL, INDIANA April 17-20, 2008 -- This April, Actors Theatre of Indiana (ATI) will present "FOREVER PLAID" for a one-week run at the Carmel Middle School April 17 - 20th. This is a show that ATI's Producing Artistic Director / Co-Founder Don Farrell has enjoyed a long successful relationship dating back to 1995 in New York, having learned the original show from the creators and then on to direct and / or perform the show all over the U.S. including National Touring Productions and the Las Vegas production at the famous Flamingo Hotel and Casino. He will direct and choreograph the production again for ATI this March-April, 2008.

To begin an integral part of one of its educational outreach programs, ATI will implement the ATI Understudy Program with its first 2008 mainstage production of FOREVER PLAID. Working with local area high schools, this program will offer 4 male students (and possibly 1 additional student as an Assistant Stage Manager) - having gone through an audition and / or interview process - the professional learning opportunity, and a very unique after-school learning experience, working with nationally known theatre professionals. ATI Artistic Director Judy Fitzgerald noted that, "The students will work alongside the professional actors and they will crew the show, however, the special difference in our understudy and intern program is that the students' work will culminate and build to a public performance of the students' talents so that there is a sense of accomplishment and pride, as well as a professional credit helping to further their future goals of a possible professional career in the performing arts." This special performance will occur only on Sunday April 20th, 2008 at 8 PM.

Forever Plaid is a limited engagement and runs April 17 - 20, 2008 at the Carmel Middle School, 300 South Guilford Road, Carmel, IN 46032.
