So, I was one of the lucky ones to find a Wii for Christmas. However, I am less than impressed with the selection of games that I have played so far. Aside from the obvious Guitar Hero, can anyone recommend games that are as fun as or better than the Wii Sports and Wii Play games?

Godzilla

Godzilla Unleashed is a lot of fun. It's the best giant monster action out there.

  1. 'Super Mario Galaxy.' Fun, fantastic, just about any other positive adjective you can think of. The only real downside I can think of is that near the end, it gets a shade repetitive, but we're talking about around the 70th or 80th star. (You can actually get to the final boss fight with Bowser with only 60 stars.)

  2. 'Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.' If you're into lengthy action/adventure/puzzlers, this is for you. I reached and beat Ganon in about 55 hours, and I'm still missing a few things. The game's biggest fault is that it's essentially a GameCube game with minor graphical enhancement. (Also, the Wii version of the game flips the world around so that Link is now right-handed, instead of his traditional lefty. Minor nitpick.)

  3. 'Metroid Prime 3.' First-person adventure. If you've played the first two (on the GameCube), you know what to expect: atmospheric, puzzle-solving, platforming. They voice-acted some of the supporting characters, but not very well. Main character Samus Aran remains thankfully mute.

I heard EA Playground was pretty good as well as Wii Carnival or something... also to help choose without spending $$$$$$ try getting a Game Fly account (like Netflix but for Wii) it's really great not too pricey and allows you to sample a lot of games and easily purchase them as well... www.gamefly.com

It really depends on what type of game you like. If you're into party games (4-player) check out Mario Party, Wario Ware, Rayman, or Super Monkey Ball. If you like puzzle games, Koronipa: Marble Mania is decent. If you're into sims, there's Trauma Center, which lets you perform surgeries using the Wiimote as a scalpel. If you're into sports, MLB Power Pros is a halfway decent Baseball game (although cartoony) and there are a couple decent golf games (Tiger Woods and Super Swing Golf). If you like shooting games, there's Red Steel, Ghost Squad, Resident Evil 4, or Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. For turn-based strategy there's Puzzle Quest and Fire Emblem. For racing games, check out Excite Truck. If you like platformers or RPGs, try Super Paper Mario. If you want to test your brain power, try Brain Age.

Speaking for Channing, I would like to suggest you read his weekly video game reviews in indy.com The Magazine. They're very englightening, insightful and comprehensive (especially for the room he's given to write them!).He often includes Wii games.

I would put in a vote for Excite Truck. I can burn an hour easy playing it just trying to get all of the points possible on a given level.

My boys love Rayman and the Raving Rabbits, Crash of the Titans (Crash Bandicut Game), TMNT and Ben 10. EA's Playground is popular also and some of my adult friends have enjoyed it as well. For a group Mario Party 8 is a good game.

I would have to say that I'm a new Wii owner. I am not known for particularly liking golf, but the Tiger Woods game is a lot more fun that I'd ever thought it would be....I tried the bugs Bunny acme game and it's horrid, Stay away from it. Luckily, I rented it from Blockbuster and not out a whole 50 bucks or so o n that one. I've heard great things about Mario Galaxy, but haven't played it just yet.

PS-Does anyone know which Zelda game to get...which one has fishing in it?

Wii Play is really fun...I like the variety of the games you can play. My FAVORITE all time game: Tiger Woods golf 2008!
