Three children were taken to the hospital Tuesday after a crash involving a Washington Township school bus and a car on the Northside.

The bus, carrying 40 children who attend the district’s “Learning Under the Sun” summer program, was northbound on Primrose Avenue about 1:15 p.m. when it collided with a car headed west on Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Fred Pervine said.

Witnesses told authorities that the car went through a red light, Pervine said.

Three children were taken to St. Vincent Children’s Hospital with head, neck and back pain. The car’s driver was taken to Community North Hospital, Pervine said. All were listed in stable condition, Pervine said.

Medics evaluated the other students at the scene, and they were picked up by their parents, Pervine said.
