The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited four construction companies for safety violations in a fall that caused the death of a worker at the Indiana Convention Center.

Stanley Roberts, 55, died June 17 when he fell about 50 feet from a boom lift at the construction site in the 200 block of South Capitol Avenue. The fines were issued after an IOSHA investigation that ended Sept. 22.

Ermco Electric was fined $9,000 for not adequately marking or covering the excavation area where Roberts’ lift fell. F.A. Wilhelm was fined $9,000 for the same violations.

Far West Construction was fined $3,000 for not adequately marking or covering a hole. And Harmon Steel was fined $10,000 for failing to enforce safety rules or provide any warning system, such as a barricade.
